Director’s Message
This month the Survey of Current Business continues its centennial celebration with reprints of noteworthy Survey articles from the 1990s highlighting Bureau of Economic Analysis products that continue to evolve and serve our users today. We discuss the changeover from gross national product to gross domestic product as our featured measure of U.S. production, the incorporation of supplemental statistics, or “satellite accounts,” into our economic accounts, and the collection of data used to produce our foreign direct investment statistics. Our influencer profile this month features Robert Eisner, whose contributions to economic measurement and work on extensions of the National Economic Accounts still impact us today.
Our “GDP and the Economy” article this month looks at the second estimate of GDP for the fourth quarter of 2020.
